چکیده

The molecular basis of carcinogenesis in gastrointestinal carcinoid tumors is not well understood. To clarify the contribution of the Wnt/ catenin signaling to this type of carcinogenesis, we investigated 72 cases of gastrointestinal carcinoid tumor both immunohistochemically and by direct sequencing of -catenin. Accumulation of -catenin in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus was observed in 57 cases (79.2%). We also detected mutations in exon 3 of -catenin in 27 cases (37.5%) and one mutation in APC (1.4%). Our results suggest that alterations in the Wnt/ -catenin signaling pathway may be involved in the development of gastrointestinal carcinoid tumors.

Expression of β−catenin in gastroenteropancreatic endocrine tumours: a study of 229 cases Short title: β-catenin in digestive endocrine tumours

Aims: In order to clarify the role of β-catenin in digestive endocrine carcinogenesis, we analyzed a large and representative series of gastroenteropancreatic endocrine tumours in order to determine the incidence and pattern of β−catenin alterations and to analyze the clinical, and histological characteristics of the tumours presenting immunohistochemically detectable alterations in β−catenin e...

Beta-catenin Forms Protein Aggregation at High Concentrations in HEK293TCells

Background: The canonical Wnt signal transduction (or the Wnt/β-catenin pathway) plays a crucial role in the development of animals and in carcinogenesis. Beta-catenin is the central component of this signaling pathway. The activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling results in the cytoplasmic and nuclear accumulation of β-catenin. In the nucleus, β-catenin interacts with the TCF/LEF transcription fa...

بررسی جهش در اگزون7 ژن اکسین2 در سرطان کولورکتال (مطالعات آزمایشگاهی و بیوانفورماتیکی)

Background & Aims: Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in Iran. Wnt pathway changes are commonly reported in this type of cancer. Some of the important activities of this pathway are the role of carcinogenicity, cellular proliferation, cell migration, and so on. Axin2 acts as a negative regulator in the Wnt / TCF signaling pathway and helps in the formation of the beta-catenin des...

Immunohistochemical Evaluation of β-catenin Marker in Papillary Thyroid Cancer Clinicopathologic Behavior

Background & objective: papillary thyroid cancer is the most common cancer of thyroid accounting for 75%-85% of all thyroid malignancies. Recently, β-catenin has been determined to play a role in clinical course of human epithelial cancers. This study was designed to reveal the association of β-catenin marker and papillary thyroid carcinoma behavior.<b...

CTNNB1, AXIN1 and APC expression analysis of different medulloblastoma variants

OBJECTIVES We investigated four components of the Wnt signaling pathway in medulloblastomas. Medulloblastoma is the most common type of malignant pediatric brain tumor, and the Wnt signaling pathway has been shown to be activated in this type of tumor. METHODS Sixty-one medulloblastoma cases were analyzed for β-catenin gene (CTNNB1) mutations, β-catenin protein expression via immunostaining a...
